Nathan was saved in the summer at the age of 14 years, and is a member of Canaan Missionary Baptist Church Springfield, MO.

Meeting as teenagers the band Floodwater (Alan, Nathan, Mike, and David) formed and have played, picked, and sang together for over 40 years. Other jobs included: law enforcement, driving trucks, school bus driver, maintenance and repairs, Polk County Coroner, and multiple funeral service positions, DJ, and a lifelong love of music as a musician. He started working for Pitts Funeral Home with Sidney Joe, Erlene, and Mike at the age of 16 years old. Nathan held a variety of jobs during his life. He later attended the Commonwealth College of Mortuary Science in Houston, TX. He was raised on the family farm in Bolivar, MO, and graduated from Bolivar High School the class of 1979. Louis, MO, and adopted by Wayne Nathaniel and Dorothy Lucille (Sconce) Hoffer who precede him in death. Nathan Wesley Hoffer, age 62 of Bolivar, MO, died peacefully in his home the morning of July 18, 2023. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pitts Chapel Bolivar, MO. Nathan is survived by his wife Rachel of the home his children: Bonnie Shikles and husband Jon, and Silas Hoffer all of Bolivar, MO Mother-In-Law Krista Nebel of Bolivar, MO band mates: Alan Roberts, Mike Rowan, and David Barham as well as a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends. He was united in marriage to Rachel Cisco, the love of his life, November 16, 2019, when he became one with the Roberts family after lifelong relationships. His children changed his life forever, and for the first time in his life he knew unconditional love. When Nathan was married to Laura Gee, he became a father to Bonnie and Silas. He was well known for his outgoing personality, the ability to tell jokes, and to make friends. He enjoyed fishing, eating, and “hanging” out with his cats on the porch.
